Collection Details
Said to have been bought by Bode for the Kaiser Friedrich Museum, Berlin, as Pontormo; exchanged for another picture with the Museum by Grange, from whom bought by Lord Faringdon (date not recorded).

Background
The artist has so far not been identified.  The style is somewhat stiff and wooden.  It comes near to Maso da San Friano (as suggested by Heinemann) or Jacopino del Conte but is not good enough to be associated unequivocally with either artist.
