New for 2016

Lord Faringdon and the Trustees of the Faringdon Collection continue to add to the Collection, and improve its display.

New Garden Sculpture
The Trustees have commissioned a new sculpture for the Swinging Garden. The artist, David Watkinson, specialises in kinetic sculpture, and this is truly mesmerising and relaxing to watch turning in the breeze.

New House Sculpture

A new glass and bronze sculpture has been commissioned by the Trustees of The Faringdon Collection Trust to fill the window recess in the main stairwell. It is called 'Three Graces' and has been created by a local Oxfordshire artist, Johannes von Stumm.

Normanton Bed

The Normanton Bed has had major conservation work carried out on it's frame and the fabric coverings.

It was taken off-site in July 2015 and, after six months away, has now been returned to the Normanton Room looking beautiful.

The work was carried out by A.T. Cronin Workshop Limited of London, the fabrics were specially re-created by Humphries Weaving Company Limited of Sudbury, Suffolk, and the braiding by Heritage Trimmings of Derby. The project was overseen by Annabel Westman, FSA, an international expert on historic textiles and beds, with the help of David Freeman, Consultant Curator to The Faringdon Collection Trust.
